Disappointment...

Hi Pups,

First of all, I would like to apologise to Baby n Boy and Fee as I have decided to abandon the previous post that they have posted comment on. I guess they might have thought that nasty jie jie is bullying me again by denying me of some soft toy. No no... That wasn't that case.

Disclaimer: " This post is not meant to hurt any pup's feeling but its definitely just my own opinion and point of view. What ever you see here, please do not cross post it anywhere. Thank you."

We have recently taken part in a Gift Exchange activity. This gift exchange is meant for doggies and the cost limit is USD 20 - 25 (not inclusive of postage). We will submit our details like our measurements and clothes sizes and favorite treat/ toy...etc and the member in charge will match us another member who took part in this program and we have to buy gifts within the price range and sent it to them. The doggie whom you are buying for might not be the doggie whom you will be receiving the gift from.

Well, today, the postman came to ring our door bell to deliver a package. That poor package was all out of shape and torn... (Sorry, never thought of taking picture of the package as it looks really ugly) We realise that the package is sent from Philippines. Since we do not have friend that we know in Philippines, we guess that this must be the "someone" whom we are matched to for the gift exchange.

When we open up the package, we found 4 items in them. 2 stuffies, a small box of rubber band for tying hair and a shirt with hood. Here are the pictures.

Item 1 - Teddy Bear
Hmm..mmm.. this bear looks better in pictures that it really is physically. Let me describe it. It looks bald with spiky hair all over the body. It feels a little like soft brush. It is about 30 cm tall without squeaky.

To us, it really do not look like a stuffie manufactured specially for dogs. It looks more like the type that hooman give to hooman on birthday or valentines day, judging from the look of the design. Do you agree with us?

A closer look. Can you see what I mean by it look bald?

Item 2 - Lady Bird

This one look cuter. It is about 18 cm and without squeaky too. The size is alright for a small dog like me but when I examine closely, I am still not convince that this is manufactured specially as a toy for doggie.

Item 3 - T-Shirt with hood.

This T-Shirt does looks cute except that blue is not quite the colour for a princess like me and worse of all, I can't even squeeze into it as it is 1 - 2 size smaller than what I wear.

Item 4 - Rubber Bands

Sorry, I do not have the picture. You can see it in the next picture. Its on top of the T-shirt.

Its in a round plastic container of about 3cm in diameter and 1cm in height. it contain coloured rubber bands meant for tying hair. The rubber bands has diameter of 2cm which is too big for a small doggie like me. These are more for hooman use as well....

Worse of all, the first 3 items looks kind of dirty the 1st item being ivory in colour, we can see stains on the back of its head and its bottom. The T-shirt being small, the blue is some how seems like having a shade of yellow over it. I know its not too good for me to say this but we strongly feel that Item 1 and 2 might just be some gift that the hooman received and have no use for and thus re-giving it out again.

Do you want to see my reaction to these gifts?

Do you think these 4 items worth at least USD20? But when we read through the rules and regulations of this gift exchange again, it suggested for members who take part to keep to the cost within USD 20-25. They did not set a minimum. So which means that we can just buy things that cost USD 10 and I am still keeping to the rules isn't it?

However, if everypup were to think this way, what is the fun of having such gift exchange? After this experience, I guess we will be more hesitant towards taking part in such program in future.

We felt that when we give a present, we will try our best to buy things that both we and the doggie who will receive it will like them. Isn't that the right way?

Sigh... What a disappointment...

Hope that every pup will have a better day than I.

Luv,

Snowball

I'm so sorry that the gift exchange turned out to be so disappointing, as I know from how generous you have been with DWB friends that you go to a big effort to get really nice things that you think the doggies will enjoy.
Let hope that your gift went to somedog who was completely delighted with a gift better than they could imagine !!

Man that really, really bites Snowball - especially since you took so much time to find out what sort of presents I would like - I'm so sorry :( Mum knows how excited your JieJie was about the exchange as well.

Bummer! And that sounds like such a cool idea too. You should never be given human toys...you could choke on one of the little pieces & hurt yourself.

We'll send you some pressies. Email us your address...our email addy is on our blog!

Hey Snowball,
My first thoughts when I read about this? What a TOTAL RIPOFF!!! How insincere. I believe that a gift should come from the heart and should always be chosen with love and care.
Don't let this put you off exchanging gifts but I guess anonymous gifts exchange can show the ugly side of some doggies.
I'll buy you something nice any day!! I know how much thought you put into your gifts. :)

Hi Snowball!

My guess is that the hooman who sent that gift doesn't have an idea on what should be given to doggies.. or maybe he/she has dogs which are big but even big dogs can't have stuffies which will have parts that will choke them.

1st it's a wrong-o stuffy.. for me, if they don't have a doggie stuffy.. at least get a Baby Human Stuffy Toy.. for months old babies.

2nd, for the clothes.. they should take note that YOU are are Princess.. and no blue for you.. plus you have the size there too..

3rd.. rubber bands? Mommy makes my top knot with a rubber in cloth or something but not rubber bands.. it could be source of matting..

I realize you are sad snowball. don't worry.. you'll get better gifts and not 2nd hand ones

Do let the site know about it and better to have like an exchange gifty to our DWB pals better right?

Now that's a good idea..

Snowball,

We just looked at your "gifts" and we understand your disappointment. The first two gifts are not even for doggies because toys for doggies do not have hard eyes. If you look at animal toys, the eyes are always fabric. We don't know what to say about the shirt and the rubber bands.
But, just think, it might have been someone who really didn't have much money ($20 US is a lot of money in the Phillipines) or very good places to shop so they did the best they could. Maybe they shouldn't have gotten involved in the exchange but can you blame them for wanting to be part of the fun? Will you send us your address (the.dachsies@gmail.com)? We will look for something for you.

I have e-mail you. I do not wish to talk about this issue on my blog anymore but that does not mean that I regret posting what I have posted.
