Wishing All a Happy and Prosperous New Year.

Hi Pals,

I would like to wish all of you a very happy and prosperous Chinese New Year!

This is me on the first day of Chinese New Year.
Yes. I was very tired. I will tell you why later.

This is my Chinese New Year dress that Boy and Baby's mum had bought for me!
It’s so pretty and everyone who saw me that day, thought that I look very pretty too.
Thank you, Boy and Baby and your mama!
Well, first day of Chinese New Year is a routine every year. In the morning, jie jie's cousins will come over to our place for visits and all her nephews and nieces will try their best to traumatize me by trying to touch and carry me and make sure that I have no peace and have no chance to rest. After their visit, we will go with them to jie jie's uncle's house for visit and the day will end at jie jie's aunty's house where everyone will gather and stay for dinner before heading back home.

This is a routine set by jie jie's grandma who had passed on for more than 10 years ago. According to her, everyone has to visit one another during this festive season. Even those who are stationed overseas have to come back for this family reunion.

Jie jie's has a huge extended family. Her grandma has 4 children and 15 grandchildren. Jie jie is the youngest granddaughter. So as more of her cousins get married and started their own family, you can imagine how big the family had grown. We have almost lost count of how many nieces and nephews she has got. If we did not get it wrong, there should be about 15 of them. so New Year is really just a huge family reunion and for them to catch up with one another cos they only meet up like once a year.

Sorry, I have no pictures to show cos jie jie is busy carry me as there are too many people around and none of them has pets so they are not trained to look out to have little fur ball like me lying around. A few years back, one of jie jie's cousin's husband who had drank too much had accidentally stepped on me. We didn't want that to happen again so she was holding on to me most of the time. hee...

Overall, the first day of Chinese New Year is a boring day cos we are not allowed to have our own visits to friends... oh well, its only once a year and we get lots of red packets and get to eat lots of New Year goodies.

Ok. Back to why I am so tired during the first day of Chinese New Year. That was because jie jie brought me over to Chinatown for the countdown. There are fireworks and fire crackers. Again, there are no pictures cos I was terrified and jie jie had to hold me real tight and block my ears from the loud noises but I took some pictures to show you what it looks like at the Chinatown in Singapore during Chinese New Year.

Its very breezy there. can you see how my fur is being blown off my face?
This is the entrance to the Buddha Tooth Relics Temple that was newly built.
Daddy and mummy spent lots of time doing voluntary work there.

Another picture of the front of the temple. Its about 5 storey high.

This is the side of the temple

Another shot of the side of the temple. Doesn’t it look grand?
These are the lanterns that was hung along the corridor of the Temple. Lights in Buddhism represent wisdom. All these lanterns are offerings made by devotees.

There are stories about the temple being haunted. Some unusual things had happened. Many of them believe that to be related to the spirits of those who had died in the area as the temple was built along the street that was previously known to be the Street of the Dead. You can enlarge the picture below to read on why the street was given the name.

Here are some pictures taken during Chinese New Year Eve. All these are Chinese New Year decorations that we buy to decorate our house.
Its very RED!
Some decorations at the Chinatown.

This is how crowded the Chinatown was during Chinese New Year Eve.

Humans, humans and humans everywhere.
It was so stuffy and hot... See how dry my tongue is.

We reach home about 3 am. I am already snoozing and snoring away on the trip home. So now you know why I was so tired on New Year Day.
I need more rest now.
Talk to you pups later.

Luv,
Snowball

OH Snowball, thank you for the wonderful photos. We feel like we've been on an exciting trip! Our servant went to a Chinese New Year party and got a chocolate rat, but she ate it all and didn't give us any just because it was chocolate.
