I was being mistaken as one of the animals to be released 8 yrs ago.

It happened when I was about 3 to 4 mths old. That day, daddy and mummy went to a temple leaving me home with jie jie. Then, we receive a call from daddy's cousin to inform us that daddy's uncle, my grand-daddy's younger brother, had passed on.

As daddy was an orphan, he had lived with this uncle when he was really young. Although he was not treated well, daddy always says that at that time, lives was hard for everyone. To provide for an extra mouth was tough as most household had barely enough to feed themselves. Thus, daddy felt that he was indebted to this uncle of his.

Jie jie needs to inform daddy and mummy about the news immediately but she couldn't think of any other ways to notify daddy and mummy as they do not carry mobile phones or pagers, so she decided that she had to make a trip to the temple personally.

As I was really young, I will whine and bark my head off when being left alone, jie jie decided to bring me along. So she put me into the pet carrier and we hail a cab to go to the temple.

The temple was really crowded and there are many elderly uncles and aunties chanting near the entrance to the temple. The temple is big, about 4 storey and there are different halls holding different activities. Jie jie didn't know where to find daddy and mummy so she went around the temple with me in the carrier.

Then, at this moment, an elderly auntie saw me in the carrier and ask jie jie :" Are you here to Fang Sheng (releasing of live animals)? They have already started. All the animals are at the other side of the temple."

Jie jie was dumb folded. She look at that elderly auntie and told her but this is a dog in the carrier. The elderly auntie said:" Yes. If you want to Fang Sheng this dog, you have to bring it to the other side of the temple so that they can offer prayers before being released."

Jie jie couldn't believe her ears but didn't bother to talk further with this elderly auntie. She just told that auntie that I belong to her and is not for releasing and walked away.

Even up to today, I still hear my humans joking about this incident. I wonder if anyone would use a puppy for Fang Sheng. If they does, isn't that more like abandoning of animals?

This is a picture of me when I was about 3mths old. Are there really such cute puppies like me being released? If there is, please let me know. I could do with a play mate.

Mum knows exactly what you meant by "Fang Shen" but that's just a joke. It's called dumping dogs period.

You were such a cutie pie!!

Love nibbles,
